Spring–Summer 2025 Hog Hunt Report

The wild hogs are currently experiencing a population boom. Like any other wild species, the population has very fruitful years and other years when the number of young is lower. We have seen excessive numbers of small hogs/piglets this year. Typically, we see sows dropping piglets January through March. The trail cams have been full of hogs. The number of hunters coming through has been increasing, but the hog population doesn’t seem to be decreasing. We have also picked up some new properties near the river that are absolutely loaded with hogs. This gives us access to what could be essentially an unlimited supply of wild pigs if managed properly. We have been getting a good number of trophy sized boars on the hunts. We’ve had over 30 taken for taxidermy in the first half of this year, with plenty more that clients chose not to keep. We expect this year to be the busiest in our business’s history, and I see no reason why we can’t maintain a 100% success rate throughout the year.

Feeding patterns are starting to shift to mature grasses and seeds, and the hogs are currently hitting the corn piles in large numbers. They’re rooting for grubs and roots as usual and are hitting some of the newly plowed hayfields that are beginning to grow. Water sources will be a heavy target in the coming months as Texas summer comes into full swing.
